Custom Illustrated Recipes
This all started, unknowingly, during my undergrad in biochemistry. A friend's hand-drawn lab setup first sparked the idea of visualizing complex steps, and as someone who sometimes skims instructions, this really spoke to me!
Years later, during my annual stint of the Instagram challenge "Inktober," I decided to turn my favorite soup recipes into illustrated recipes—coining this art challenge "Souptober." When people started asking if they could buy them, I realized the magic of illustrated recipes. I officially launched this for Mother's Day a few years ago (because moms have the best recipes), and ever since, I've loved connecting with people about the dishes that mean the most to them. Seeing these illustrations grace homes as unique, heartfelt gifts is an absolute joy.

How it works
We begin by connecting over your cherished recipe! Of course, I’ll need the ingredients and directions, but what truly makes it special are the little details:
- Where did this recipe come from, and where is it going?
- Is it tied to a special occasion or tradition?
- Do you always serve it in a specific dish, or does it have a unique story?
The more I know, the more I can weave those meaningful details into the illustration—turning your recipe into a visual keepsake that truly pops!
“These recipes are stories. They hold history, tradition, and love”
Have questions about what recipe makes
a good illustration?
With your story in mind, I create two digital sketches, each with notes on the artistic direction. Once you choose the sketch that speaks to you, I refine the details and bring the vision to life.
The final artwork is hand-drawn and painted on Arches watercolor paper—a time-honored, 100% cotton, cold-press paper that’s been trusted by artists for centuries. I use professional-quality watercolors, gouache, and archival inks, ensuring your illustration is vibrant and made to last for generations.
Need extra copies? I can also create high-quality prints on 8.5 x 11 Epson Cold Press Watercolor Paper, handling the digitizing, processing, and printing so that every version retains the beauty of the original.
